Gammacell® 1000/3000

Short description

Gammacell® is a stationary gamma irradiation system designed to treat blood components in order to inactivate lymphocytes and reduce the risk of transfusion—associated complications such as graft-versus-host reaction (TA-GVHD). The device provides uniform and controlled gamma radiation, high dose stability and reliable operation when processing red blood cells, platelets and other blood components.

Scope of application

  • Blood centers and transfusion stations
  • Transfusiology Services
  • Clinics with intensive transfusion practice
  • Departments of Hematology, Oncology and Transplantology
  • Medical institutions focused on a high level of transfusion safety

Purpose and functions performed

Gammacell® is designed for:

  • treatment of blood components using a gamma radiation source;
  • inactivation of T-lymphocytes and reduction of the risk of TA-GVHD;
  • standardized preparation of erythrocytes, platelets and plasma before transfusion;
  • to ensure reproducible and controlled radiation exposure in accordance with clinical requirements.

Key advantages

  • Stable and uniform gamma irradiation
  • An isotopic source with a long service life and a constant output dose
  • High reproducibility and standardization of procedures
  • Increased safety for patients
  • Reliability and durability of the equipment

Technological features

Gamma radiation

  • Using an isotope source for uniform and deep penetrating radiation.
  • Optimal dosage regimens for the treatment of various blood components.

Safety and security

  • A shielded camera and physical shielding to protect personnel.
  • Interlocks and interlocks system that prevents access to the irradiated area during operation.

Management and control

  • A control panel with the ability to program radiation modes.
  • The ability to register processing parameters for traceability.

Who is it intended for

  • Blood centers and transfusion services
  • Medical institutions with intensive use of blood components
  • Oncological, hematology, and transplant departments
  • Institutions striving for maximum transfusion safety

Compliance with standards

  • Meets the requirements for the prevention of TA-GVHD and other transfusion complications
  • Complies with the quality and safety standards of medical equipment
